As SL so RL: Dsquared² The Wanderers Fall 09

Trends, fashion forwards, style is not simply the domain of the ladies, as we all know. Let’s not forget the boys in the seasons’ turn with men.style.com’s Fall 09 preview. This theme harkens back to the travel worn, the weary, the ruggedly handsome…

Back on My Grind: Runway Divas #12
RunwayD 0528_011, originally uploaded by Tempest Hennesy.
Today (May 28th, 2009) I had the opportunity to walk with some of the old girls, and some new, for the 12th installment of Runway Divas. Unique and fantastic, we had the pleasure of wearing the designs of Barerose’s, June Dion. June was present to watch us strut our, proverbial, stuff and to witness the novice models try their own hand at the runway.
Thank you to Rena Mascot, EFA, and the staff of Barerose for helping put this together. I was proud to walk it.
The Garment Rack: Visiting Victoria

Getting back into the swing of things, I took the opportunity to visit Victoria V’s main store. My goodness, I’ve been living in a cloud for a while; the area has changed. Definitely worth a drive by. Of course, while there, I had to pick up a little number for myself for the red carpet. What red carpet? Never you mind. I’ll find one!

With a little more time on my hands as I prepare for the wedding, I figured I’d give this another swing. Well, it was either this or pace grooves into the floor and pray that things don’t fall apart.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tempest Hennesy Leaves UVogue Fashion & Modeling Agency
May 18, 2009 – Effective immediately, Tempest Henesey, co-CEO of UVogue Fashion & Modeling Agency (previously known as InStyle Fashion Agency) and Dean of the UVogue Fashion Modeling Academy, has resigned her duties with the agency and the modeling school. According to Ms. Hennesy, ” due to a difference in management styles, I have decided to step down. I would like to thank all of you, past and present for the time we’ve spent together, and the shows we’ve produced. I wish all of UVogue and their partners the very best for the future.”
Ms. Hennesy was previously Model Training Manager with the Ewing Fashion Agency and is also a well-known top model in Second Life. Having worked her way through the fashion industry, from an unknown to modeling creations from some of SL’s best designers, she has a very complete understanding of the fashion community. Her 15 years of real world fashion and entertainment experience adds additional expertise to the second life fashion industry. She has taught some of the best and has been influenced by some of the best and thus, been able to perpetuate a high standard of excellence amongst the industry’s top fashion models.
What’s next on her agenda for this incredibly talent woman? Ms. Hennesy will be returning to the one thing she loves best – Fashion Modeling, “…modeling on the runway, in print, in video, on tv, whenever I have an opportunity to do what I do best in the industry I love.” was the final statement made by Ms. Hennesy

DANGER: Curves Ahead
I’ve seen it over and over again and, for the most part, ignored it over and over again. After all, how people choose to live their lives is their business; even within the fashion industry of both RL and SL.
I am, though, had it up to the proverbial here with hearing ‘Wow! Tempest is Curvy!’. Hell, yes, I’m curvy. Curvy AND successful. My body mass is well above 0, as is my musculature. My behind doesn’t even go down to 0 for a prim skirt, though I do keep it low enough to not look like I’ve got a 16-wheeler behind me.
Everyone has their idea of beautiful. For the better part, I try to leave people to theirs. I expect, though, to have mine left the HELL alone; especially by people who I have surpassed on many an occasion. Tyra Banks was, and still is, a beautiful not size 2 model. She’s not even a size 6 and has graced runways all over the world; and then some. The first black model to be, solo, on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine. To be blunt… guess what? Twiggy is passé, and even she’s gained weight.
So, the next time my ‘curves’ come into question, consider this: Not only is the likelihood that I’ll hear it high… remember that these curves are dangerous and ever climbing higher.
