As SL so RL: Julien Macdonald Biker Brigade Fall 09
Biker Brigade2 Fall 09, originally uploaded by Tempest Hennesy.
Well, ladies and gents, boys and girls, it’s that time again where I pull myself out of the summer lethargy and peek to see what’s what, and what can be pulled together, from examples on Style.com in search of that RL/SL crossing over of styles, trends and colors. This season begins on a bit of an edge with the Fall 2009 Biker Brigade trend.

If you have tried to TP to the Main Store at Xalapa, or wondered why things have been a little quiet lately, have no fear! DCNY is still here, in fact they are hard at work rebuilding the entire sim to make your shopping experience even better.
DCNY Girl – July 09
DCNY Girl – July 09, originally uploaded by Tempest Hennesy.
Since it’s said that idle hands are devil’s work, I’ve managed to keep myself busy since stepping down from a super administrative position. It’s given me the chance to get back to the one thing I love almost as much as partner in all… modeling!
This time the opportunity comes in the form of being elected as this month’s (July 09) DCNY girl! I have to say that I am very excited about this position. Owned by Dave Casanova, DCNY carries from casual to formal, to skins. All well crafted and well thought out. While most of SL fashion have very definite European influences, and there’s not a thing wrong with that, it’s nice to see a North American, east coast (to me, anyway), flavor to clothing, and DCNY have definitely captured that.
It’s only going to be for a month but do look out for more from DCNY, and me, during that time and definitely stop in! It’s worth the teleport!
The Garment Rack: Hair Fair 2009 – Locks of Love
HairFair09 AD 0624_001, originally uploaded by Tempest Hennesy.
This week (starting June 20th, 2009) Second Life fashionistas have been treated to the 4th annual Hair Fair benefiting Locks of Love (http://www.locksoflove.org/index.html)… an organization even my RL 16 year old daughter cut off her hair to donate to. In spite of the horrific lag, the constant shouting to remove ao’s, and nagging people about their ARC’s, the turn out was, and continued to be, fantastic. Many of SL’s fashion elites set up shop for those of us who have found ourselves running the virutal treadmill of same style same shop.
While getting all that caught my fancy would probably send myself and my husband into bankruptcy, I did manage to get away with some awesome finds; two of the many being from KMADesigns and Analog Dog (both featured in my pictures but with so much more to choose from you can certainly pick up where I had to leave off. Remember me when you all are rocking those fantastic looks and, remember, your purchase helped a little girl or boy, just out of chemo, feel fantastic about themselves!
Back on My Grind: Runway Divas #12
RunwayD 0528_011, originally uploaded by Tempest Hennesy.
Today (May 28th, 2009) I had the opportunity to walk with some of the old girls, and some new, for the 12th installment of Runway Divas. Unique and fantastic, we had the pleasure of wearing the designs of Barerose’s, June Dion. June was present to watch us strut our, proverbial, stuff and to witness the novice models try their own hand at the runway.
Thank you to Rena Mascot, EFA, and the staff of Barerose for helping put this together. I was proud to walk it.
The Garment Rack: Visiting Victoria

Getting back into the swing of things, I took the opportunity to visit Victoria V’s main store. My goodness, I’ve been living in a cloud for a while; the area has changed. Definitely worth a drive by. Of course, while there, I had to pick up a little number for myself for the red carpet. What red carpet? Never you mind. I’ll find one!

The Garment Rack: DCNY Shopping Trip II

Continuing with my foray into the beautiful, fresh and East Coast (U.S.) inspired designs of DCNY… Okie, they’re East Coast to me, an East Coaster, though the brilliant Dave Casanova may have had something else in mind… I’ve picked up the pretty number. Now, I don’t usually go on and on about an outfit, allowing the design and the photograph speak for itself; a picture is worth a thousand words, but DO look at the beautiful lacework texturing along the hem. Breathtaking!

With a little more time on my hands as I prepare for the wedding, I figured I’d give this another swing. Well, it was either this or pace grooves into the floor and pray that things don’t fall apart.

It was mentioned, in passing, that the girl next girl that I was had all but vanished; that the hood rat turned, completely, into the haute brat. Well here’s, perhaps, a bit of assurance that she’s still here… A little grown and adaptable, but here.

The Garment Rack: Marvelous Minn
Recently, I had the pleasure of attending the marvelous Minnu Palen’s b’day party. It was a fantastic event filled with music, laughing and, of course, dancing. Ah, but you don’t peer here for that, do you? Well, I won’t disappoint. Not only did I walk away from the evening with fantastic memories of a great time but a little birdie slipped a little sumfin-sumfin in my pocket (keep it clean, naughties!)
. I present you the Johannesburg skin in Dark from Minnu Model Skins. Above, you’ll see the relatively un-postworked version. I did nothing to it but create a frame and the composite.
Below, though, is another matter. I couldn’t leave well enough alone since, with these skins, I’d end up in postwork anyway. Enjoy!
You’ll find the proper versions of these here
