Hot off the trails of NY Fashion week, and rounding out the fall trends, MC Hammer peeks back in for a fashion review. Falling under the as RL so SL banner, harem pants swish and sway on the runways for the Fall 09 season.
As SL so RL: Giles Boudoir Crossover Fall 09
More in my As RL so SL series, the real life runways bring you a peek into the frills and intimacies of one of the most sensual parts of a woman’s wardrobe combined with the casual or haute of the daylight hours.

Trends, fashion forwards, style is not simply the domain of the ladies, as we all know. Let’s not forget the boys in the seasons’ turn with men.style.com’s Fall 09 preview. This theme harkens back to the travel worn, the weary, the ruggedly handsome…

Well, ladies and gents, boys and girls, it’s that time again where I pull myself out of the summer lethargy and peek to see what’s what, and what can be pulled together, from examples on Style.com in search of that RL/SL crossing over of styles, trends and colors. This season begins on a bit of an edge with the Fall 2009 Biker Brigade trend.

Over the last few weeks my search for the best quality, stylish and, yes, sexy maternity wear moved steadily on; my poor husband shaking his head and looking for places to hide as stack box after box in our living room… den… bedroom, I have yet to find something that perfectly fit the bill.
A warning to the strict, die hard, fanatical fashionistas that now would be a good time to turn away… if the picture didn’t already make you do so.

It’s a side of SL that we, who model, ofttimes simply look at and, possibly, think how silly. It’s a side of SL that some people, in their virtual realism, take very seriously; after all, it can be a rich part of one’s metaverse. It’s also a part of SL /fashion/ that is often overlooked and left to the wayside. What is it, you may ask? Well…
Maternity wear.

If you have tried to TP to the Main Store at Xalapa, or wondered why things have been a little quiet lately, have no fear! DCNY is still here, in fact they are hard at work rebuilding the entire sim to make your shopping experience even better.

Since it’s said that idle hands are devil’s work, I’ve managed to keep myself busy since stepping down from a super administrative position. It’s given me the chance to get back to the one thing I love almost as much as partner in all… modeling!
This time the opportunity comes in the form of being elected as this month’s (July 09) DCNY girl! I have to say that I am very excited about this position. Owned by Dave Casanova, DCNY carries from casual to formal, to skins. All well crafted and well thought out. While most of SL fashion have very definite European influences, and there’s not a thing wrong with that, it’s nice to see a North American, east coast (to me, anyway), flavor to clothing, and DCNY have definitely captured that.
It’s only going to be for a month but do look out for more from DCNY, and me, during that time and definitely stop in! It’s worth the teleport!
The Garment Rack: Limited Edition Blessings!

These days, more and more, people… models… supermodels have been finding themselves less of a relatively original statement, and more of a cookie cutter version of everyone else. Yes, it is our jobs to set example for how the designers have wanted their clothing seen and, perhaps, worn with a bit of mixing and matching but it is also our jobs to try to be a little avante garde; to be able to /set/ that example. With more designers putting what’s already been out (sometimes for months) into current shows, remaing ahead of the game has become more and more of a challenge for my Sisters and Brothers of industry.
Amutey DeCuir to the rescue! Bliss Couture (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Gown/148/141/282) has taken a stand that I’ve seen more and more of the designers with a finger on the pulse of their demographics have taken. They have taken a piece or two; yes, some from existing styles, added a little this or that… everything from a different, vibrant, color to length to layers, and made it a Limited Edition. Now, the words “Limited Edition” have been used, reused and overused to absolute DEATH but here’s the curb that I loved. Bliss Couture limited the amount of these gowns to be sold…. AND she didn’t ask for some ridiculously outrageous price (we’re models. y’all pay us. we don’t make THAT much).
So, I say BRAVO to Amutey DeCuir and other designers who have followed suit. It’s the little things that show us that they might actually give an fluff about the models who represent them (paid and voluntary) and the clientele they serve.
Back on My Grind: Runway Divas #12
RunwayD 0528_011, originally uploaded by Tempest Hennesy.
Today (May 28th, 2009) I had the opportunity to walk with some of the old girls, and some new, for the 12th installment of Runway Divas. Unique and fantastic, we had the pleasure of wearing the designs of Barerose’s, June Dion. June was present to watch us strut our, proverbial, stuff and to witness the novice models try their own hand at the runway.
Thank you to Rena Mascot, EFA, and the staff of Barerose for helping put this together. I was proud to walk it.
