Always on my grind, and aside from the major venture of opening, yes, opening our own store, but my fantastic husband and I have taken on the task of trying to fill the shoes of Costa Rica Sim’s blogger, Phantom Republic.  Admittedly, these will be hard shoes to fill and much respect goes out to him in his future endeavors.

Mischief, mischief, mischief!

What mischief have I, or should I say we, been up to? Well venturing into yet another aspect of this, our Second Lives(tm)! This time, under the banner of “T&T Designs and Consulting (2009) (c)”, husband and wife team Takeshi and Tempest Kiama have added their experience in SL’s fashion industry, and their RL artistic ability, and brought about the first line of their ‘body business’.

Gentlemen! This one’s for you!

Owners Tempest Hennesy and Takeshi Kiama have had a, combined, experience of six plus years in the Second Life(tm) fashion industry.  Combined with their real world artistic abilities, and the invaluable advice of Ohren Beck of I.N.X.X., each shape has been painstakingly created to be proportionally balanced and  as realistic as SL will allow.

With the philosophy that, compared to the standard building, Second Life metrics are a bit off, these shapes may appear exceedingly tall but when, for example, compared to the door frame of the average prefab home, they are perfectly ‘normal’.

It’s a good thing when one’s just having a bad day to have a little surprise dropped in out of the blue; completely out of left field. This time, it was Jungeun Vella of JE*Republic who brought up my mood with her latest hair release, “Antoinette”.

JE*Republic’s Antoinette is a beautiful updo with some wispy escapes from the tri-tiered buns, wrapped with a beautiful string of pearls. Both the pearls and the hair, itself, has a resize capabilities for easy fitting without having to fiddle with edit.

Always full of goodies, I can hardly wait to see what Jungeun has up her sleeve next!

After 3 years and 30+ shows Atlantis Modelling Agency CEO and founder Valerie McDunnough has decided to end her work at the agency and focus on her real life.

The agency will however continue its long and proud history of showing under the management of new CEO Eria Ziemia and CO-CEO’s Tempest Hennesy and Takeshi Kiama.

Eria Ziemia has been working within the fashion indusry of SL for 3 years, gaining a lot of experience from positions such as marketer at Aspire to modeling, to Administrative Manager of “Essence of SL” magazine. In addition she has been involved with event organizing as well as working as hostess moving up to senior manager at venues like Dublin in SL.

Takeshi Kiama has been involved with fashion world in numerous ways, from model to photographer to writer and blogger. In 2007 Takeshi Kiama founded “Essence of SL” magazine. Though no longer published, its blog Essence of SL has enjoyed a long and healthy readership and is still maintained to this day.

Takeshi and Eria both been a part of Atlantis for over 2½ years and working closely with Valerie McDunnough. While Tempest is a new addition to Atlantis, she brings a lot of experience from walking the catwalk and working in several agencies such as Ewing, Timeless and Sxy2nd, including being CO-CEO of UVogue in the past.

The trio has a lot of ideas and visions to bring the agency into a new era and will be working hard in the coming months on reorganizing and making plans for the agency and the first show after the turn-over.

The point of this exercise is not for me to find exact replicas of some of the RL fashion industry’s most prominent, and upcoming, designers.  As with runway versus everyday fashion, the point is to find a style and see if something similar can be pulled together with the tools at hand; in this case the imaginative and talented designers of Second Life.

SL is full of many fantastic publications; each with their own draw and demographics. SXY2nd, though, in the hands of Anessa Stine, Jackson Vantelli and their devoted staff truly had mine but, with their September issue, came the end of a short-lived but wonderful run.

Many of the magazines in SL like to focus on the fashion or try to get to, and ahead of, the myriad of events.  Some focus on the specialty markets and still more focus on the fetishes.  Few, though, focus on the pure enjoyment of the avatar and what it really takes to make one feel good about themselves, how the world perceives them and what it takes to get them there.  SXY2nd, though, was one of those.

So, with a heavy heart, and a sighed satifsfaction at a good run, we bid them farewell.  Will there be another attempt to fill the demographic?  There’s no such thing as a new mousetrap.  We can only sit, wait and see what some of the brilliant minds of our virtu-reality have to offer.
